Little more than a week ago after Google opened up the Chrome Cast API we called on developers create apps for Windows Phone to take advantage of the streaming gadget.

Now 10 days later we have Tube Cast, an app which will lets you search, select and play YouTube videos on your Chromecast.

The app is simplicity itself – it will automatically connect and select your Chromecast, and also let you choose from a number of them if you have more than one.

It will also let you search YouTube, and select videos from there. A simple tap will initiate playback.

The app is lacking any significant features beyond that – it can not control or even stop playback and can not cast video besides YouTube.

imageIt is however pretty magical to tap on a YouTube video on your phone and have it play immediately on your TV, and I suspect we will see a lot more development of this app in the coming weeks and months.

If you have a Chromecast and a Windows Phone, download the free and ad-free app from the Windows Phone Store here.
