Google today announced a couple of new features coming to Google Maps app for Android. The first new feature allows you to “Follow” places you find on Google Maps. Once you follow a place, you will get the latest news from the place—like events, offers and other updates. These updates will appear in the For you tab.

The second new feature will allow anyone who want to be in the know about all the new places opening around their place. Google will now list profiles for places before they even open on Google Maps for Android and mobile search. If you are business owner, you can create a free Business Profile that will appear to people up to 3 months in advance of opening, allowing people know ahead of time to plan their visit. This feature is rolling out over the next few weeks.
