Microsoft reluctantly commits to make a Remote Desktop app for Windows Phone also

Yesterday Microsoft quietly announced they are releasing a Remote Desktop app for iOS, Android, MacOS, Windows 8 and Windows RT.
Windows Phone was conspicuously missing, despite their app also working on the iPhone and Android phones.
TheNextWeb managed to corner Microsoft on the issue, and was able to confirm Microsoft was indeed working on an app for Windows Phone.
“Remote desktop on phones is a relatively rare usage scenario,” a Microsoft spokesperson said in a statement. “That said, we are working on a version of the app for Windows Phone. We’ll be able to share timeframe at a later point in time.”
The enthusiasm is clearly palpable.
We understand Microsoft’s need to serve the platforms the majority of their customers use, but the company need to pay attention to the PR message they send when they themselves neglect to support their platform in favour of those of others – What’s the point of spending $500 million on a PR campaign to have it undone by an ill-worded press release?
