The Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is rolling out for PCs and mobile devices over the next few months, and just like with previous Windows releases, Microsoft is cutting the cruft. This time, the venerable Lumias 640 and 640 XL, the first Windows 10 “Ready” devices from Microsoft, are being cut from support  as Redmond continues its purge of older devices(in a list spotted by Windows Central). Users of this device will miss out on the Windows 10 Mobile Fall Creators update and its newest features (See here for a full list).

Microsoft will, however, be supporting the following Windows 10 Mobile phones going forward.

  • HP Elite x3
  • HP Elite x3 (Verizon)
  • HP Elite x3 (Telstra), Wileyfox Pro
  • Microsoft Lumia 550
  • Microsoft Lumia 650
  • Microsoft Lumia 950/950 XL
  • Alcatel IDOL 4S
  • Alcatel IDOL 4S Pro
  • Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL
  • Softbank 503LV
  • VAIO Phone Biz
  • MouseComputer MADOSMA Q601
  • Trinity NuAns Neo.

Many of these devices are newer, though not all are more powerful devices. For users of the Lumia 640 and 640 XL, Microsoft will still be delivering security updates and cumulative updates until the Windows 10 Creators Update support lifecycle runs out.
