The Windows Phone “Other Storage” issue, which would see Windows Phone’s internal storage taken up by increasingly large collections of undeletable temporary files, has been a thorn in the side of Windows Phone users for at least 6 months.

It seems our collective nightmare is about to end, as Joe Belfiore, head of Windows Phone, has tweeted that:

non-deleted large files (XAPs, eg) that caused ‘other’ storage issues were fixed in GDR2.

With some users reporting as much as 20 GB of their internal storage being wasted on their phones I am sure this fix can not come fast enough.
