In a surprise move, the BGR reports that HTC has decided to bring the HTC s740 slider Windows Mobile Standard smartphone to USA.

The phone, called the S743, will feature US AT&T 3G bands, but will not actually be sold by the carrier. Instead the phone will be distributed by independent distributors like Dell.com, CDW, Best Buy, and others.

The smartphone features a 2.4 inch QVGA screen, 256 MB RAM and 256 MB flash storage, a 3.1 megapixel fixed focus camera, GPS, HSDPA, FM radio and a 47 key slide-out keyboard.

No price has been announced yet, but as usual for an unlocked phone, expect it to be significantly more than a carrier-subsidized one.
